Map Ranking’s 12 Months Roadmap
Generate more qualified opportunities from the markets you want to serve and help turn those opportunities into measurable business growth.
We’ve built proprietary tools and strategies designed to strengthen the signals surrounding your business, improve local visibility, increase engagement, and support the performance of your overall digital marketing ecosystem.
That includes Google Maps and organic search, while the data, landing pages, tracking, conversion improvements, and market intelligence we develop can also support better paid advertising decisions.
But we’re going to measure more than visibility.
We want to know:
Those are the conversations we want to have every month.
Day 1
Day 365
A company that is generating a positive return from its marketing investment and has a clearer roadmap for continued growth.
This Is a Partnership
There’s something else you should know before working with Map Ranking:
We’re going to hold you accountable, too.
We can build the strategy, deploy the technology, optimize your digital properties, analyze your markets, identify opportunities, and help create demand.
But we cannot run your company for you.
The most successful companies we work with have owners and leadership teams who execute.
That means asking customers for reviews. Answering the phone. Following up with leads. Tracking sales. Participating in strategy meetings. Providing us with information. Making operational improvements. And, when the opportunity exists, being willing to expand into new markets.
We will be accountable to you, and we expect you to be accountable to the growth plan.
That’s why we think of this as a partnership rather than simply an agency-client relationship.
What You Can Expect From Map Ranking
- You can expect us to bring the technology, strategy, local SEO expertise, tracking, analysis, optimization, and accountability.
- We’ll tell you what we see.
- We’ll tell you where we think the opportunities are.
- We’ll tell you when we think something needs to change.
And we’re going to keep asking the most important question:
“Is this helping grow the business?”
What We Expect From You
We want partners who are serious about growth.
That means we expect you to:
- Consistently generate legitimate customer reviews
- Participate in monthly strategy conversations
- Answer and follow up with leads
- Help us accurately track qualified calls and sales
- Provide requested information and access
- Execute agreed-upon operational action items
- Be willing to make changes when the data supports them
- Consider legitimate geographic expansion when the economics justify it
- Hold your team accountable for converting opportunities into customers
Q1 โ MONTHS 1โ3
Build the Foundation & Prepare for Market #2
Q1 Client Milestones
Growth requires execution from both sides.
By the end of the first 90 days, we’re looking for several important milestones.
24+ New Customer Reviews
Our target is at least 24 legitimate new customer reviews during Q1.
For a serious home service company, reputation growth needs to become part of the company’s operating culture โ not something the marketing agency occasionally asks about.
Consistent Map Check-In Activity
Our target should generally be at least twice the volume of new reviews, assuming there is sufficient legitimate customer and job activity to support it.
Three Productive Strategy Conversations
At least once each month, Map Ranking and company leadership should have a constructive conversation about business performance.
We don’t want the entire conversation to be:
“Where are my rankings?”
We want to discuss:
- How many qualified calls did we generate?
- What happened to those calls?
- Which calls became appointments or estimates?
- Which services are producing opportunities?
- Which geographic areas are performing?
- What’s preventing leads from becoming sales?
- Where should we invest next?
- What can Map Ranking improve?
- What does the business need to improve?
These conversations are where marketing starts becoming growth strategy.
Location #2 Moving Forward
By the end of Q1, the second strategic market should be identified and the business owner should be actively working with Map Ranking on the requirements necessary to establish the second location.
The first 90 days are about building the marketing infrastructure, establishing baseline performance, creating momentum, and identifying where the business should expand next.
By the end of Q1, we don’t just want a better-optimized Google Business Profile and website.
We want a stronger marketing foundation, measurable business data, consistent execution from both teams, and a clear plan for Location #2.
Month 1: Build the Foundation
During the first month, we’ll deploy and configure the Map Ranking ecosystem and establish the tracking required to measure performance.
This may include:
- Map Check-Ins
- Local Engagement Booster
- Call and form tracking
- GoHighLevel integrations when applicable
- Google Business Profile access
- Website and analytics access
- Google Ads access when applicable
- Other relevant marketing properties and tracking systems
We’ll also establish baseline measurements so we understand where the company is starting and can measure progress against real business outcomes.
Google Business Profile Optimization
We’ll review and optimize important GBP elements, including:
- Primary and secondary categories
- Services
- Business description
- Photos and media
- Website links
- Business information
- Conversion opportunities
- Other profile elements that can influence visibility and engagement
Website Optimization
We’ll begin optimizing the pages most closely connected to local search performance, including the homepage, core service pages, location pages, and the landing page connected to your Google Business Profile.
Optimization may include:
- Page titles and metadata
- H1, H2, and H3 structure
- Content optimization
- Internal linking
- Local relevance
- Schema and structured data
- FAQs
- Conversion elements
- Content structure for traditional and AI-driven search experiences
After Month 1: Begin Planning Location #2
Once the initial foundation is established, we begin looking beyond your existing market.
Starting after Month 1, we begin evaluating the opportunity for your second Google Business Profile location.
A single GBP typically has a limited geographic reach, particularly in competitive home service markets. If your goal is to grow across a larger territory, our strategy cannot depend entirely on trying to stretch one location farther and farther away.
Instead, we begin analyzing:
- Where your existing GBP is strongest
- Where visibility begins to decline
- Where qualified calls are coming from
- Where important geographic gaps exist
- Competitive density
- Population and market opportunity
- Revenue potential
- Your operational ability to serve the market
Our objective is to identify the next market where establishing a legitimate business presence could create the greatest opportunity.
By the end of Q1, we want Location #2 identified and the expansion process moving forward.
The business owner is responsible for establishing a legitimate, operational location that meets Google’s eligibility requirements. Map Ranking helps determine where that expansion makes the most strategic sense.
We’re not simply asking:
“How can we make this GBP rank farther away?”
We’re asking:
“Where should this business expand next?”
Build Momentum & Collect Data
Throughout Months 2 and 3, we continue improving the website and Google Business Profile while using the Map Ranking tools to strengthen engagement and local relevance.
But now we also have something we didn’t have on Day 1:
Data.
We’re beginning to understand:
- Where qualified calls are coming from
- Which markets are responding
- Which services are generating opportunities
- Where local visibility is improving
- Where visibility remains weak
- What happens to incoming leads
- Where additional opportunities may exist
This is where our conversations begin moving beyond SEO.
We’re starting to make business decisions based on marketing data.
Q2 โ MONTHS 4โ6
Expand the Footprint
Q2 is about taking what we’ve learned and expanding intelligently.
Our objective is to continue strengthening Location #1 while establishing and growing Location #2, assuming the location is operationally ready and meets Google’s eligibility requirements.
Our focus increasingly shifts toward:
Visibility โ Qualified Calls โ Opportunities โ Sales
We’re analyzing which services and markets deserve additional investment instead of blindly trying to rank for everything, everywhere.
During this phase, we may:
- Launch and optimize Location #2
- Build supporting location content
- Expand service-area content
- Strengthen internal linking
- Continue GBP optimization
- Increase review velocity
- Expand Map Check-In activity
- Continue Local Engagement Booster activity
- Improve conversion tracking
- Analyze call quality
- Identify underperforming services or markets
- Improve landing pages
- Coordinate organic and paid search opportunities
Q2 Client Milestones
By the end of Month 6, we want to see the business expanding beyond its original market while continuing the habits established during Q1.
Location #2 Established & Operational
The second location should be secured, operational, and moving through or completing the Google Business Profile verification process.
Our goal is to have Location #2 live and actively building its local presence during Q2.
48+ New Customer Reviews Year-to-Date
The review process established during Q1 should continue.
By Month 6, our target is at least 48 legitimate new customer reviews across the business, while beginning to build review authority around the second location where appropriate.
The goal is to make asking for reviews an ongoing company process โ not a temporary marketing campaign.
Consistent Map Check-In Activity Across Markets
Map Check-Ins should continue growing alongside actual customer and job activity.
With a second market being developed, we’ll begin distributing legitimate Check-In activity strategically across the geographic areas each location is intended to serve.
Six Productive Strategy Conversations
Leadership should have participated in at least one strategy conversation every month since the beginning of the engagement.
By this point, those conversations should increasingly focus on business performance:
- Qualified call volume
- Lead quality
- Appointments and estimates
- Close rates
- Revenue generated
- Performance by service
- Performance by market
- Operational bottlenecks
- Opportunities for additional growth
Lead & Sales Tracking Is Becoming a Habit
By Month 6, we expect the business to have a much stronger understanding of what happens after the phone rings.
The owner and team should be consistently helping us identify which opportunities became appointments, estimates, jobs, and revenue.
Marketing performance shouldn’t stop being measured at the lead.
Operational Capacity for Growth
As qualified opportunities increase, the business needs to be prepared to handle them.
By the end of Q2, leadership should be actively evaluating:
- Are calls being answered?
- Are leads being followed up with quickly?
- Do we have enough technicians or crews?
- Can we service both markets effectively?
- Are estimates being followed up on?
- Are we tracking why opportunities are won or lost?
The Q2 milestone isn’t simply having more visibility.
It’s proving that the business can turn an expanding marketing footprint into real revenue.
The Six-Month Question
What’s producing revenue โ and how do we get more of it?
Q3 โ MONTHS 7โ9
Optimize for Revenue & Identify Market #3
By Q3, we should have significantly more information about your customers, services, locations, and markets.
Now we’re looking for patterns.
Which markets produce the best customers?
Which services generate the highest-quality opportunities?
Which pages convert?
Which locations generate the strongest calls?
Which calls aren’t converting โ and why?
Where should paid advertising complement organic visibility?
Where should we increase investment?
Where should we decrease it?
Our strategy becomes increasingly specific to your company’s economics, rather than following a generic SEO checklist.
Prepare for Location #3
During Q3, we also begin analyzing the next geographic opportunity.
By Month 9, our objective is to have identified the target market for Location #3.
We’ll use what we’ve learned from the first two markets to evaluate:
- Remaining geographic visibility gaps
- Qualified call volume
- Revenue opportunity
- Competition
- Population and demographics
- Service demand
- Operational capacity
The objective is to enter Q4 with a clear understanding of where the company should expand next.
Owner Accountability
As marketing generates more opportunities, operational execution becomes increasingly important.
We’re going to pay attention to:
- Missed calls
- Lead response times
- Appointment rates
- Estimates
- Close rates
- Sales tracking
- Reviews
- Staffing and capacity
Marketing can generate the opportunity.
Your operation has to convert it.
Q3 Client Milestones
By the end of Month 9, we want Locations #1 and #2 producing meaningful data and opportunities while preparing the business for its next stage of geographic expansion.
Location #2 Gaining Traction
By this point, Location #2 should be established and actively building visibility, engagement, reviews, and qualified opportunities within its target market.
We’ll compare performance between both locations to better understand where growth is happening and where additional attention is needed.
72+ New Customer Reviews Year-to-Date
By Month 9, our target is at least 72 legitimate new customer reviews across the business.
Reviews should now be part of the company’s normal operating process, with the team consistently asking satisfied customers for feedback across active locations.
Consistent Map Check-Ins Across Both Locations
Map Check-In activity should continue alongside legitimate customer and job activity, with both locations building stronger geographic relevance within the markets they serve.
Nine Productive Strategy Conversations
By Month 9, company leadership should have participated in at least nine monthly strategy conversations with Map Ranking.
At this stage, our conversations should increasingly revolve around:
- Qualified calls by location
- Revenue by market
- Highest-performing services
- Appointment and estimate rates
- Close rates
- Missed and unanswered calls
- Lead follow-up
- Marketing ROI
- Operational capacity
- Where the company should expand next
Stronger Lead-to-Sale Accountability
By Q3, we expect the business to have a reliable process for tracking what happens to incoming opportunities.
We should be able to increasingly connect:
Marketing โ Qualified Calls โ Appointments โ Estimates โ Closed Jobs โ Revenue
This allows us to make better marketing decisions based on actual business performance rather than vanity metrics.
Location #3 Market Identified
This is the major expansion milestone for Q3.
By Month 9, our objective is to have identified the target market for Location #3 using the data and experience we’ve accumulated throughout the year.
Together, we’ll evaluate geographic visibility gaps, competition, customer demand, revenue potential, operational capacity, and the performance of the first two locations.
The business owner should then begin taking the necessary steps to establish a legitimate, operational third location that meets Google’s eligibility requirements.
Prepare the Business for the Next Stage of Growth
Before expanding again, we also need to make sure the operation can support it.
Leadership should be asking:
- Can we effectively service another market?
- Do we need additional technicians, crews, or salespeople?
- Are we answering and following up with leads consistently?
- Which services should we prioritize in the next market?
- Where are we losing opportunities?
- What operational bottlenecks could prevent us from scaling?
The Q3 milestone isn’t simply identifying another place to open a GBP.
It’s making sure the company is ready to successfully enter and serve a third market.
Q4 โ MONTHS 10โ12
Launch Location #3 & Scale What Works
Q4 is where we take the strongest pieces of the system and prepare the business for its next stage of growth.
A major objective for this quarter is straightforward:
Establish and begin growing Location #3.
Assuming the location is operationally appropriate, financially justified, and eligible under Google’s guidelines, we’ll incorporate the third location into the Map Ranking ecosystem.
Location #1
Continue strengthening and defending the company’s original market.
Location #2
Continue expanding visibility, engagement, reviews, qualified calls, and market penetration.
Location #3
Launch the next phase of geographic expansion and begin building its local presence.
At the same time, we continue improving:
ROI measurement
Website authority and visibility
Local landing pages
Google Business Profiles
Reviews and reputation
Map Check-In activity
Local Engagement Booster activity
Conversion rates
Call tracking
Lead quality
Paid and organic market intelligence
Sales attribution
Q4 Client Milestones
By the end of Month 12, the goal is to have transformed the strategy from a single-location marketing campaign into a multi-market growth system โ with stronger tracking, better business intelligence, and a clear understanding of what is generating revenue.
Location #3 Established & Operational
The third location identified during Q3 should be secured, operational, and moving through or completing the Google Business Profile verification process.
Our objective is to have three legitimate locations actively building their presence across three strategically selected markets by the end of Year 1.
96+ New Customer Reviews Year-to-Date
By Month 12, our target is at least 96 legitimate new customer reviews across the business.
More importantly, generating reviews should now be part of the company’s normal operating process โ consistently executed by the team after successful customer experiences.
Consistent Map Check-In Activity Across All Locations
Map Check-In activity should continue alongside legitimate customer and job activity across all active markets.
As the company’s footprint expands, each location should be supported by consistent activity within the geographic areas it is intended to serve.
12 Productive Strategy Conversations
By the end of Year 1, company leadership should have participated in at least 12 monthly strategy conversations with Map Ranking.
These conversations should now be driven by business performance:
- Qualified calls by market
- Revenue generated
- Cost to acquire opportunities
- Highest-value services
- Appointment and estimate rates
- Close rates
- Lead response and follow-up
- Performance across locations
- Operational capacity
- Marketing ROI
- Opportunities for Year 2 expansion
Clear Lead-to-Revenue Tracking
By Month 12, we want much greater visibility into the complete customer journey:
Marketing โ Qualified Calls โ Appointments โ Estimates โ Closed Jobs โ Revenue
This allows both teams to evaluate marketing based on its contribution to the business โ not simply rankings, traffic, impressions, or other vanity metrics.
Three Markets, One Growth Strategy
By the end of Q4, Locations #1, #2, and #3 should no longer be viewed as isolated marketing campaigns.
They are part of one larger strategy.
We should understand which markets are strongest, which services generate the best opportunities, where additional investment makes sense, and where the company still has room to expand.
Year 2 Growth Plan
Before the end of Month 12, Map Ranking and company leadership should review the entire year and determine the next stage of growth.
We’ll ask:
- Which locations produced the strongest return?
- Which services generated the most profitable opportunities?
- Where are the remaining geographic gaps?
- What should we improve operationally?
- Where should we increase or decrease marketing investment?
- Is the company ready to expand into additional markets?
- What should our Year 2 growth targets look like?
The Q4 milestone isn’t simply reaching the end of a 12-month SEO campaign.
It’s entering Year 2 with a stronger company, a larger local footprint, better data, and a proven strategy for turning marketing opportunities into revenue.
